Biography of Dr Rajendra prasad
Rajendra prasad was born on 3 December 1884 and he was the first president of India. He was Indian political leader and lawyer also.His father name was Mahadev Sahai and His mother name was kamleshwari Devi. He was the youngest child and had one elder brother and three elder sisters. His mother died when he was a child and his elder sister the took care of him. Rajendra Prasad was a landholding and rich Kayastha Hindu and born in Zeradai in the Siwan District of Bihar. He was a scholar of Sanskrit and Persian languages.
When He was five years old his parents placed under the tutelage of Maulavi and he was a scholar Persian language, Hindi and arithmetic. After the completion of traditional elementary education, he was sent to Chapra District School. He studied well and he was very intelligent in childhood. Meanwhile, in June 1896 at an early age 12, He was married to Rajvansi Devi. He, along with his elder brother, Mahendra and then went to study at T.K. Ghosh's Academy in Patna for the period of two years. He secured first entrance examination to the University of Calcutta and was awarded Rs. per month as scholarship.
Rajendra Prasad joined the Presidency College Calcutta in 1902. In starting time, he was science student. He passed F.A. under the University of Calcutta in March 1904. He was completed graduation with first division in March 1905. Impressed by his intellect, an once commented on his answer sheet that "The examinee is better than examiner" Later he decided to focus on arts and he completed M.A. in Economics with first division from the University of Calcutta in 1907. After his studied he joined the Indian National Congress during the indian Independence Movement and Became a Major leader from the region of Bihar. He became major leader of Bihar and He always supported of Mahatma Gandhi. Prasad was imprisoned by British authorities during the Salt Satyagraha of 1931 and after that he participated in Quilt India Movement of 1942. He played important role with Mahatma Gandhi in Freedom for India. After coming into contact with Gandhiji, Dr Rajendra Prasad impressed and immersed himself fully into freedom struggle. He played an active role during Non-Cooperation Movement. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was arrested in 1930 while participating in Salt Satyagraha. He was in jail when on 15 January 1934 a devastating earthquake struck Bihar.
In 1962, after 12 years as President and He was awarded Desh Ratna, nation's highest civilian award. He spent the last few months of his life in retirement at the Sadaqat Ashram in Patna. Dr. Rajendra Prasad died on February 28, 1963.
